Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 14, 2026

Yes, the irony is not lost on us - a cookie consent platform with its own cookie policy. Here's how we practice what we preach.

1. Cookies We Use

Consentify.dev uses a minimal set of cookies, all strictly necessary for the service to function:

  • Authentication session cookie - Keeps you signed in to your account. This is an HTTP-only, secure cookie set by our authentication system (Better Auth). It expires when you sign out or after the session timeout.
  • Theme preference - Stores your light/dark mode preference in localStorage (technically not a cookie, but worth mentioning for transparency).

2. What We Don't Use

  • No third-party tracking cookies.
  • No advertising cookies.
  • No analytics cookies (we use server-side aggregation only).
  • No cross-site tracking of any kind.

3. The Widget's Cookies

The Consentify consent widget that you embed on your websites does not set any cookies itself. Visitor consent preferences are stored in the visitor's browser via localStorage, which is not a cookie and is not transmitted to servers automatically. Consent events are sent to our API with a hashed visitor identifier - no cookies involved.

4. Managing Cookies

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking our authentication cookie will prevent you from signing in to the dashboard. All major browsers provide controls to view, manage, and delete cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
